Rock band Tesla plays at Penn's Peak tomorrow

The summer line-up is in full swing at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, featuring all genres of concerts as well as weekly deck parties.

Tonight, it's vintage pop as the "Happy Together" tour stops at the venue. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and features The Turtles, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, Mark Lindsay, former lead singer of Paul Revere & the Raiders, and Chuck Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night.Tomorrow night, the rock band Tesla will be on the spacious stage. The TESLA lineup consists of four of its original members, Jeff Keith, Frank Hannon, Brian Wheat and Troy Luccketta and their newest member Dave Rude. The band started in Sacramento, CA, as City Kidd but soon realized the name just did not fit their sound. The name TESLA came from the inventor that pioneered the radio, Nikola Tesla. They soon signed with Geffen Records and released their first album in 1986. Mechanical Resonance quickly reached the Top 40 on the album chart and eventually went platinum. TESLA is known for their melodic songs and down to earth appeal. Their music is often referred to as heavy metal, but it is really better described as blues metal. In 1990 they released the album Five Man Acoustical Jam and the album was a huge success. Before this, no one had heard of a pop metal band playing acoustic, but it was a huge hit with the fans and the media. So huge in fact, this album helped inspire MTV's Unplugged series and the craze took off. Many other artists followed suit and released their own acoustic albums, but TESLA gets credit for getting the ball rolling. Five Man Acoustical Jam also garnered them another Top 10 hit with "Signs." This song was also the band's highest charting single.TESLA is more creative now than ever. They began simultaneously creating and producing their own videos and albums. They even have their own band owned and operated label, TESLA Electric Company Recordings. The TESLA concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $29 and $34.The upcoming deck party schedule is as follows:June• 29 - The Large Flowerheads, 6:30-9
