Motorcycle and deer collide

A motorcycle and deer collided along a Schuylkill County road this week. It was one of two crashes investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

Troopers said the cycle crash occurred about 7:28 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, along SR895, in Wayne Township. Todd A. Fekete, 43, of Schuylkill Haven, was operating a 2012 Harley-Davidson Road King eastbound and negotiating a curve when a deer entered the road and struck the left side of the bike. The impact caused Fekete to lose control and overturn the bike. The bike then slid across the road and came to rest next to the guard rail.Fekete was injured and taken to the Reading hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The bike had to be hauled from the scene.A two vehicle crash was reported at 11:16 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at the intersection of SR61 and Brick Hill Road, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Anna Harding, 81, of Orwigsburg, was stopped at a stop sign operating a 2002 Ford Explorer on Brick Hill Road. She attempted to make a left turn to go south on SR61, but failed to see Shirley A. Solt, 57, of Auburn, approaching northbound on 61. The front end of Solt's 2010 Ford Fusion struck the left front door of the Explorer.Both drivers were injured. Solt was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, with moderate injuries, and Harding to a Pottsville hospital, with minor injuries, troopers said.Troopers cited Harding for stop signs and yield signs.
