Man cited for public drunkenness

A Schuylkill Haven man has been cited by Tamaqua police after he allegedly caused a nuisance on June 13.

Police were dispatched to 515 N. Railroad St., at 8:24 p.m. for a report that an unknown, inebriated male was on the porch, panhandling. The male was identified as Walter Gera, 41, of 135 Millers Rd.Gera was dirty, muddy and his clothes were soaking wet. He was unable to explain how he had traveled to Tamaqua or why he was in such a sodden state. He was taken back to the station where the Tamaqua Salvation Army provided him with dry clothing and a blanket. After speaking with Gera's mother, officers arranged to have him transported to his home.He was issued a citation for public drunkenness.
