State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 8:20 a.m. on Monday, June 17, that occurred along SR534 in Polk Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Glenn Evans Gehret, 50, of Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota truck eastbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The truck traveled about 70 feet off the road and into the woods.The truck then struck a tree coming to final rest. The truck sustained disabling front end damage and was towed from the scene. Gehret was not injured and was wearing a seat belt.Troopers cited Gehret for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
