Long time privy digger and bottle collector Bob Perrin of Coaldale will present a program on digging and collecting antique bottles in our area tonight at the Lansford Historical Society Museum.

Perrin has been locating and digging the sites of old outhouses in backyards of many homes throughout the Panther Valley and beyond for many years.He also has a passion for studying and learning how bottles have been made over the past two centuries, who made them, and the scarcity of some of these bottles. The most interesting and most collectible bottles of course have the names of local businesses embossed in the glass and are highly sought after by collectors.The Lansford Historical Society is hosting this free program by Bob Perrin beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Lansford Historical Society Museum.The museum is located on the second floor above the Panther Valley Public Library at 117 East Bertsch St. in Lansford.The public is invited to come out and learn more about the old bottles that might be laying around their basements or attics and in some cases, still buried beneath the ground in their backyards.Perrin recently donated antique bottles from Lansford to the museum and is also putting a display on loan of articles relating to the history of Coaldale.For more information about the program or the museum, contact Bill Harleman, president of the Lansford Historical Society at (570) 617-4683.
