Dedication of the refreshment stand to the late Jim Ziegenfuss, or as he was better known as "The Voice of Franklin Township Baseball," was held at the Ronald Christman Little League Field in Franklin Township.

Several plaque presentations were also made.Wayne Wentz, past president of the Franklin Township Athletic Association, presented plaques to Dr. Bob Ziegenfuss, Jim's son; Dr. Kenneth Sharp; and Carlos Teets. Also a sign dedicating the building to the Ziegenfuss was unveiled."I thank you so much," said Dr. Ziegenfuss. "I thank you all. I appreciate what you do here. I will bring my mother up here to see the sign."It was a donation by Dr. Ziegenfuss that allowed the Franklin Township Little League Auxiliary to renovate the refreshment stand."It used to be plain studs on the inside, and the cabinets were worn out," said Sherri Steigerwalt, auxiliary president.Steigerwalt said that Ark Builders completely renovated the kitchen, which now rivals any restaurant.She said the auxiliary also held a basket raffle and bingo to raise money for the kitchen renovations, but the bulk of the funding was contributed by Dr. Ziegenfuss.Dr. Sharp was recognized because he donated public address (PA) systems to the FTLT, for both the Phifer Ice Dam Park and Christman fields."When I hear the strains of the national anthem, it's all worth it," said Sharp.Teets was recognized for being Ziegenfuss' "sidekick." Teets said he was the scorekeeper. Teets played down his role by saying, "All I did was push a few buttons."Dr. Ziegenfuss said that when he was growing up, his house was likely the site of the first baseball fields in Franklin Township until someone built a house on the corner of third base."We broke so many windows of that basement playing baseball until the house was completed," said Dr. Ziegenfuss.Wentz said that he was grateful to the Ziegenfuss family, Teets and Sharp for supporting Franklin Township Little League."Without the community's support we wouldn't have the facilities we have," said Wentz. "It's important to say thanks."
