'Exploring 4-H' day camp offered at environmental center, Pocono Lake

Exploring 4-H Day Camps will be held July 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center, 151 E. White Bear Drive, Summit Hill and also on July 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Pocono Lake United Methodist Church, Route 940, Pocono Lake.

This program is open to children in Carbon and Monroe counties between the ages of 10-13 (as of Jan. 1, 2013).Workshop topics are as follows:Kitchen science: Learn about cooking techniques, kitchen safety, measuring and more. Participants will be making their afternoon snack during this workshop.Water conservation with the water lion: Did you know that Pennsylvania has 83,000 miles of streams, more than any other state except for Alaska? Discover how water is important in our lives.Forestry: Learn about the forests of Pennsylvania and the important concept of forest stewardship.Eco-bot challenge: Learn to think like a robotics engineer, assembling your own robot (Eco-bots) and control surfaces in order to manage a simulated environmental cleanup.For more information or to register, contact Georgia Farrow, Carbon County 4-H Program Assistant at (570) 325-2788 or
