Tamaqua Police were on foot patrol the night of Tamaqua Area High School's graduation, when Officer Joseph Krebs received a report that an extremely intoxicated woman was near the entrance to the high school.

The woman was found and identified as Laura Rodgers, 49, of Linwood. She had slurred speech, glassy eyes, kept dropping her camera and used the building to support herself. When speaking with the officer, Rodgers suggested "If you think I'm drunk, you should see my husband."The officer had that opportunity a few minutes later, when George Gommer, 48, of Upper Chichester, stumbled over to the scene.Both were removed from the school grounds and cited for public drunkenness on school property.
