All that and more awaits those who attend the Fun on Wheels Festival from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Palmerton Borough Park. The rain date is Sunday.Sponsored by Family Promise of Carbon County, the event will feature a church food tent and food vendors, kiddie rides, free activities for kids, and caricatures.A Minute to Win It Race will be held from 11-1. Just like the show, this race will consist of challenges with household items such as stacking cups, or unrolling toilet paper by swinging their arms.Once the task is completed, participants will race to the next station. The first team to complete all tasks and cross the finish line will receive the grand prize.Teams will consist of between four to five people, one of which must be at least 18 years old. One member must rise, push, or pull something on wheels, such as a stroller, bike, or wagon.Anyone interested may preregister, or register the day of. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m.There will also be a Big Wheel Race for kids ages 3-6 at 2 p.m., face and body art, basket raffle, crafters and vendors, Myrtle Beach Condo Raffle, Cock-a-Doodle Poo Raffle, open Car and Bike Cruise, Pig Roast from 4-6 p.m., music by Brad and Luke at 5 p.m.Also of note is the famous Bed Race, which will be held from 3-5 p.m., as teams race beds around the park, toss water balloons.There is no registration fee, but Family Promise asks for a donation because every kid deserves a home.Family Promise of Carbon County is a nonprofit 501c (3) and nondenominational organization that serves homeless families in the county.It is one of over 152 networks across the country, and utilizes existing resources in its churches to form a network of at least 13 congregations who are willing to house homeless families in their buildings for seven consecutive nights, four times per year.There are over 4,500 congregations and 110,000 volunteers that make up these networks.
