Detectives from the Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office, along with the county drug task force, sheriff's department, office of the state Attorney General, and several local police departments conducted a drug sweep this week with warrants for 10 individuals.

District Attorney Karen Byrnes-Noon said the felony warrants were for street level dealers and were the result of investigations conducted by the county drug task force."We will continue to pursue drug dealers wherever they sell these poisons in our neighborhoods," said Byrnes-Noon.Arrested were Alexis Fritz, David Hoffman and Greg Maser, all of Pottsville; Cody Gaumer, Saint Clair; Brett Kline and Brian O'Connell, both of Shenandoah; Brian Maberry, Schuylkill Haven; Christopher Miller, Port Carbon; Ricky Smith, Auburn; and Keith Yarnell, who has no listed address.All were charged with various counts of delivery of either methamphetamine, suboxone, bath salts, heroin or marijuana.All were arraigned before District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, who set bail at $25,000 percentage for each defendant. None could post bail and were committed to the county prison in Pottsville.Byrnes-Noon credited the expansion of the county drug task force, a COPS grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, which pays for overtime, and the cooperation of local police for the increase in the number of drug arrests being made in the county.The DA stressed that the arrests were the result of local police working together with the drug task force to help keep drug dealers off the street.Byrnes-Noon also thanked the public for their help in these drug investigations. Many of the probes began with tips to the county's drug tip line, the DA said.Local police who assisted in the sweep included Pottsville, Saint Clair, Schuylkill Haven, Port Carbon, West Mahanoy Township, Shenandoah and Butler Township.The DA reminded the public if anyone has any drug tip information in the county to call the drug tip line at (800) 414-1406.
