Crashes probed

State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

A one vehicle crash was reported about 2:20 p.m. on May 23, along SR534, in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said James R. Dellavecchio, 18, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a uphill left hand curve due to wet conditions. The car crossed the center line and traveled into the southbound lane. Dellavecchio attempted to regain control of the vehicle, traveled back into the northbound lane at which time the car began to spin out. The car then struck an embankment on the right berm, spun 180 degrees and slid about 50 feet before coming to a rest.Dellavecchio was not injured. The car had to be towed from the scene. Troopers said he was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.A one vehicle crash was reported at 7:30 a.m. on May 24 along Sivler Springs Boulevard in Eldred Township, Monroe County. Matthew T. Walter, 55, of East Stroudsburg, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Colorodo southbound when he veered off the west side of the road while losing control for unknown reasons. The pickup truck traveled through a muddy field along the berm for about 300 feet before entering a wood line.The truck then traveled about 150 feet striking several small trees and brush before coming to rest between two trees.Walter was not injured but his vehicle had to be towed from the scene. He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.A two vehicle crash occurred about 1:48 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, along SR534 at the intersection with Lower Middle Creek Road, in Polk Township. Troopers said Gregory K. Barron, 44, of Philadelphia, was driving a 2007 Hyundai northbound on 534, while Briana Marie Wortman, 18, of Kunkletown, was stopped for a stop sign on Lower Middler Creek Road driving a 2008 Subaru sedan.Troopers said Wortman pulled into the path of Barron and a collision occurred. Wortman and her passenger, Catharina Soto, 19, of Effort, Barron and his passenger, Tina Barron, 41, were all not injured.Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Assisting at the scene were Polk Township Fire Company volunteers.
