Strategies against crime program May 30 in Tamaqua

Big Time Crime: A Strategy for Small Cities & Towns! A landlord/property manager training program, free to the public, will be hosted by the Tamaqua Safety Initiative and funded by LISC (Local Support Initiatives Support Corporation) on Thursday, May 30. Timothy Vance of Housing Crime Consultants, Inc. is from New York City and will be the featured speaker. The training provides important information for property owners of single or multiple rental units, property managers, local borough staff, councils, township supervisors, Police departments, emergency personnel Real Estate offices and more. The goal is to provide "what is not already known and share help tips" on topics such as Drugs, Gangs, Security, Foreclosures and vacant building. Attendees will share an interactive session to learn about the importance of lease language and good tenant screening and the costs of crime to property owners and the community. Organizers encourage any residents and families concerned about drugs and crime in their neighborhood to attend. Two sessions are available, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Seating is limited.
