State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating two crashes recently, including a hit and run, on Schuylkill County roads.
The hit and run occurred on Sunday, May 20, about 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Center St. and SR61, known as the Mt. Carbon Arch, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Jennie I. Grube, 80, of Schuylkill Haven, was stopped for a red traffic light in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier when her vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle. The other driver backed up and fled the scene.The hit and run vehicle was described as white and blue in color, a pickup truck with extended cab and state registration plate, partial number of YXH.The second crash occurred about 1:41 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, along SR443 (Pleasant Valley Road), in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Kyle K. Frehafer, 28, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2011 Ford Escape westbound when it left the road and struck a wooden wall used for landscaping. After impact the Ford rotated clockwise 90 degrees and came to rest across the westbound lane.Frehafer was not injured but the Ford had to be towed from the scene. Frehafer was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
