Tamaqua police are investigating two reported burglaries at the home of an elderly man.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the East End section of the borough on May 3 where they learned that someone had made entry through a basement door, then stole numerous medications from the kitchen area.On May 19 the homeowner was upstairs at 12:40 a.m. when he heard the sound of heavy footsteps coming from the basement stairs. The victim called out and the intruder fled.Officers were able to gather some evidence from the scene and charges are pending.
