Inmate dies at Carbon jail

An inmate in the Carbon County Correctional Facility died Sunday morning in his cell.

The name of the 26-year-old man wasn't released this morning, but Sheriff Dwight Nothstein said he was a "drifter" and not a local resident.He was admitted to the prison on May 15. Nothstein admitted the individual had a drug problem.The inmate was pronounced dead at 5:41 a.m. by a member of the Carbon County Coroner's office.Coroner Bruce Nalesnik said a post-mortem exam will be done on the individual. He stressed that a post-mortem exam is standard procedure in such an instance.Nalesnik said resuscitation efforts were made on the individual.Nothstein said the individual had been in touch with his father while an inmate.
