A three-vehicle crash occurred about 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. State police at Frackville said Jerry M. Simms, 60, of Wilmont, Ariz., was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck in a construction zone. Traffic was stopped in front of him due to heavy fog and traffic. He was unable to stop with the front of his vehicle hitting the rear of a 2012 Toyota Prius operated by Heather L. Styka, 25, of Portland, Maine, which was pushed into the rear of a 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML operated by Elito Lim, 57, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Styka sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene by Ryan Township ambulance personnel. Simms was cited for following too closely.
