They whirled, twirled and stepped to the music at the Carbon County Senior Games dance competition on Wednesday, the final day of contests.

The competition, which included polka, slow dance, and rock & roll, was held at the Lehighton Recreation Center.The South Team, composed of senior citizens from Lehighton and Palmerton, continued its tradition of topping the North Team, composed of Panther Valley, Jim Thorpe/Penn Kidder, and Weatherly.Final tallies as of the close of the dance competition were: Lehighton, 688; Palmerton 117; Jim Thorpe 325; Panther valley 176; and Weatherly, 22.The results for dance were:Polka:Gold: Joe and Barbara Mustacchio of Lehighton.Silver: Henry Long and Fran Haas, both of Lehighton.Bronze: Linda Bottcher and Linda Daubenspeck, both of Lehighton.Slow Dance:Gold: Howard and June Farber of Jim Thorpe.Silver: Joe and Barbara Mustacchio of Lehighton.Bronze: Francis O'Donnell of Jim Thorpe and Sue Dopira of Panther Valley.Rock & Roll:Gold: Joe and Barbara Mustacchio, Lehighton.Silver: Linda Bottcher and Linda Daubenspeck, both of Lehighton.Bronze: John and Sharon DeWald of Jim Thorpe.
