Msgr. Francis X. Barrett, Allentown, Diocesan Superintendent of Education, announced at a meeting of parents of the children of Sacred Heart School, Nesquehoning, that the school would be closing in June. Msgr. Barrett cited low enrollment (87) and the shortage of sisters among the principle reasons for the decision. Arrangements have been made for the children attending Sacred Heart School to be absorbed into St. Ann's School, Lansford.
