The Slatington Woman's Club has announced that Ruth Milburn is its May's Girl of the Month.

She is the daughter of Victoria and Ken Milburn of Slatington.As a senior at Northern Lehigh Area High School, she is involved in theater, choir, newspaper, a National Honor Society candidate. She is the Spanish Club president and the activities editor for yearbook.She has been on honor roll or the principal's list since she started school and is proud of that achievement. She is on the All-Pro Team. Last summer she attended the prestigious National Student Leadership Conference for Journalism and Mass Communication."This experience was life altering and really gave me an advantage in the field I want to go to into when I graduate," she says.Ruth is also very involved with her church as part of the Teen Choir and is the youth leader. Currently, she is working with the Christmas play, and has been volunteering in the nursery during church.She enjoys being outdoors hiking or kayaking, camping, writing, reading, taking photography and being with her friends.Her future plans include going to one a state university for journalism and mass communication with a minor in international affairs. She hopes to someday work for a prestigious newspaper or TV studio such as CNN or The New York Times.
