Driver injured after crashing into pole in Coaldale

Christopher Puksar, 26, of Lansford, was taken to the hospital around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning after losing control of his sports utility vehicle and snapping a power line pole along US209 in Coaldale. Firefighters on scene stated that Puksar was injured after stepping outside his vehicle onto the wet ground.

They added that electrical current entered through his hand and exited the lower part of his body. Puksar, who was able to talk to paramedics following the incident, was taken via Lansford Ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital - Miners Campus for unknown unjuries.The crash resulted in a power outage and road closure of US209 in Coaldale for about 10 hours as crews with PPL replaced the pole. Responding in addition to paramedics were Coaldale police, firefighters and fire police. Patrolman Charlie Blesse is still investigating.
