Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA) was recently named to the E-power(r) Energy-Smart Business Honor Roll for its efforts to become more energy efficient.

Businesses on the E-power(r) Energy-Smart Business Honor Roll demonstrate awareness and commitment to better energy and environmental practices, according to PPL Electric Utilities Corporation (PPL).BCNEPA achieved the designation for completing a number of upgrades at its facilities, including: the installation of controllers to more efficiently operate air conditioners; modifications to system motors that allow operation at varying speeds, instead of only "on" or "off" modes; and the installation of economizers, which are designed to take advantage of low outside temperatures to cool the building when possible.BCNEPA also recently conducted an energy audit that helped to further reduce its energy consumption.
