Tamaqua woman facing charges

Coaldale police have charged a Tamaqua woman with lying in December about an assault by her ex-boyfriend.

Jasmin McCarroll, 27, of 23 N. Greenwood St., is charged with filing a false report with law enforcement authorities.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Chief Timothy Delaney, here's what happened:On Dec. 8, Officer Todd Weiss was dispatched to St. Luke's Hospital, on a report of a stabbing. Weiss spoke with McCarroll, who told him that her ex-boyfriend, identified only as "Frank," ran her off the road in Tamaqua, was threatening her and smashed the windshield of her car. She told Weiss she then followed "Frank" to a house in Coaldale that was across from two churches. Then she said it was a house in Summit Hill. McCarroll claimed she and "Frank " began arguing, and he left the room and returned with a knife, which he used to stab her in the leg.She told Weiss she did not know "Frank's" last name, but the house in Summit Hill belonged to a man whose name was Mario. The house, she said, was between two churches on White Street. As time went on McCarroll admitted that the incident did not occur in Coaldale or Summit Hill, but in Hazleton.
