Five Tamaqua residents among 17 to enter guilty pleas

Five Tamaqua residents were among 17 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge Jacqueline Russell.

Jason E. Bankes, 20, of 322 Hazle St., pleaded to burglary and was sentenced to serve one to 23 months in the county prison with credit for serving 20 days. The sentence is to begin Wednesday, May 1, at 9 a.m.Bankes also must pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, perform 29 hours of community service, and make restitution of $1,343.10 to B. Godshall, White Birch Golf Course, Barnesville, and pay $50 to the district attorney's office for a bench warrant.Bankes was cited by Rush Township Sgt. Duane Frederick, with theft of 160 lottery tickets from the golf shop. The court also imposed a harsh penalty ordering he stay away from the golf course.Richard H. Melicharek, 51, of 214 Pine St., Apt. 3, forgery, passing a bad check and theft, placed on probation 36 months, pay $100 to CJEA fund, perform 40 hours of community service, and make restitution of $290.20 to Michael and Jacquelin Stank for using their credit card and $600 to Charles Odorizzi for a bad check to pay rent on an apartment. Union St., Apt. 2, theft of personal properties, sentenced to serve one to 23 months in the county prison and since he served 160 days was granted immediate parole, pay $100 to CJEA fund, and perform 40 hours community service. He also must make restitution of $221 to the Beacon Diner, $3,520.68 to Laurie Campomizzi, $1,385 to John Middleton, and $4,500 to Jean Campomizzi, all of Tamaqua.Musselman was cited by Rush Sgt. Duane Frederick, and Tamaqua Patrolman Michael Hobbs.Jeffrey David Boyer, 48, 264 Brown St., terroristic threats and simple assault on Corrine Duke, same address, sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison with credit for serving 170 days; pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 40 hours of community service, and have no contact with the victim. Boyer was cited by Patrolman Michael Hobbs.Crystal Joy Milner, 19, N. Walnut St., delivery of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, placed on probation three years, pay $200 to SAE fund, $100 to CJEA fund, and perform 40 hours of community service. Zimmerman, 61. of 12 Main St., Middleport, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, sentenced to serve 10 days in the county prison beginning Monday, May 13, at 9 a.m., followed by five months and 20 days on probation in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP), including 40 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee, pay a fine of $750, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $100 to MCARE fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC) South, attend alcohol highway safety school, receive intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, perform 20 hours of community service, driver's license suspended 12 months and when restored must install an ignition interlock on the steering wheel of his vehicle to monitor any alcohol consumption by the driver. Lorah.Donald Kenneth Stenheiser, 55, Mahanoy City, DUI of alcohol, placed in IPP to serve six months on probation, including 15 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee, also, pay a $1,000 fine, $300 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund,$60 to SMC-South, attend safety school, and driver's license suspended 12 months. Aponick when stoped on SR1006 in Blythe Township.John Kyle Smith, 28, Schuylkill Haven, burglary, sentenced to serve two to four years in a state correctional facility and received credit for serving 90 days in the county prison, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service when released on parole, and make restitution of $2,441.99 to Benjamin Riegel, Pottsville. Smith was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Renee R. Galle.
