Abe Sibbach, West Sixth Street, Jim Thorpe, had a miraculous escape from possible serious injury in Jim Thorpe at 7:30 p.m. while returning to his home from Coalport. A part broke on the steering mechanism, rendering his 1951 Pontiac hardtop out of control. It veered to the left at a point on the hill above Robinson's Creek, rolled back, and crossed the highway before plummeting over another embankment, after which it continued an estimated 185 to 200 feet down the woodland slope. Witnesses Fritz Juracka and George Mizak said the car rolled over five times.
