Monroe man jailed in stabbing incident

A Monroe County resident was jailed on Monday following a stabbing incident that left one person in critical condition.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident occurred about 4:10 p.m. at 103 Johns Lane, in Long Pond.Police were dispatched to the residence to a report of a domestic assault and stabbing. On scene police found Edward Baliski, 58, of that address, outside the home.Officers were told that Baliski had stabbed David Gallagher, no age given, multiple times inside the home. David Gallagher was transported to the CMC, Scranton, where he was admitted in critical condition.Police also learned that Patricia Gallagher, no age given, was punched and cut on her right arm by Baliski.Baliski admitted stabbing David Gallagher, police said, multiple times during an argument in the home. He was taken into custody and charged with attempted homicide, aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and possessing instruments of crime. He was lodged in the county prison in Snydersville, pending arraignment.
