A 23-year-old Jim Thorpe man was among 14 fatalities in a tragic U.S. Navy transport plane crash this afternoon in Jacksonville, Fla. Petty Officer 2nd Class Timothy N. Keck of West Broadway died in the crash of the aircraft into the St. John's River. A son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Keck, he was a 1977 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School where he excelled academically and in athletics. The tragic irony is that he won the 1976-77 Bruce Pollock Memorial Wrestling Award in his senior year. That trophy was dedicated to Pollock, a 1973 JTHS grad who also lost his life in a plane crash in Virginia.
