Monroe driver facing hit/run

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of hit and run following an incident that occurred on Tuesday, April 23. It was one of two hit and runs investigated by state police at Lehighton on Tuesday.

Troopers said the incident occurred along Serfass Road at Long Mountain Road, in Polk Township, about 12:55 p.m. Troopers said a vehicle was driven westbound on Long Mountain Road when the driver attempted to turn onto Serfass Road. He lost control of the vehicle which went off the left side of Serfass Road and crashed into a tree.The driver then left the scene westbound on Serfass Road. Witnesses gave a description of the vehicle as being a red in color BMW. Troopers later located the vehicle in question at 3420 Walnut Drive, in Gilbert.As a result troopers said Allan R. Brown, 58, of that address, was cited for multiple violations.The second hit and run occurred along SR248 in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, just past the border with Lehigh County, at about 12:27 p.m.Troopers said Kathleen D. Troxell, 47, of Palmerton, was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima westbound when her vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle while she was braking.Troxell pulled to the side of the road but the other driver fled the scene. The hit and run vehicle was described as being reddish color with minor front end damage including silver paint transfer in the front bumper.Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to call troopers at (610) 377-4270.
