Gabriel Youth Orchestra to perform spring concert

The Gabriel Youth Orchestra will perform their spring concert on Sunday, April 28 at 3 p.m. at the

D.H.H. Lengel Auditorium, Pottsville Middle School under the direction of John F. Potlunas. A reception will follow the performance.The program includes a wide variety of works: The Barber of Seville Overture, Porgy and Bess Medley, Brahms Tragic Overture, first movement of Mozart's Symphony #12, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and other selections.Chris Circelli, winner of the 2013 Gabriel Youth Orchestra Competition, will be featured in the first movement of the Edward Gregson Tuba Concerto. Circelli is a senior at Pottsville Area High School and is currently principal tubist for the Pottsville Area High School concert band and bass trombonist for the PAHS stage band. He has also performed in numerous local and regional bands and orchestras.The Gabriel Youth Orchestra was established in 2010 under the auspices of the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble. It provides an opportunity for high school students from throughout the region to play in a professionally managed setting. The Gabriel Youth Orchestra is the only available outlet for young musicians to assemble in full orchestral mode, with the string instruments differentiating the ensemble from the many "bands" that exist at the high school level and in the community.The Gabriel Youth Orchestra is funded by the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble nonprofit organization, by ticket and advertising revenues as well as individual, corporate and foundation support, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Schuylkill Area Community Foundation and other grants.For more information about the Gabriel Youth Orchestra or Chamber Ensemble, go to
