Schuylkill United Way hosts Day of Caring

Once again, the Schuylkill United Way is organizing a Day of Caring event to help promote the value of volunteerism, increase the awareness of local human service agencies, and demonstrate what people working together for a common good can accomplish.

The Schuylkill United Way is excited to host the 5th Annual Day of Caring on Friday May 3 and Saturday May 4. Volunteers can choose which day is more convenient for them to participate, or they can help out both days. The day is focused on volunteer projects that take place throughout Schuylkill County and help support the Schuylkill United Way's partner agencies. Those fifteen agencies provide services to over three-fourths of the county's population. This year, 11 of the 15 agencies are participating in the Day of Caring, providing volunteer opportunities for over 120 people. The agencies participating in this event are The Pottsville Salvation Army, Boy Scouts Hawk Mountain Council, Child Development, Schuylkill Women in Crisis, Schuylkill Wellness Services, Schuylkill YMCA, Avenues, Tamaqua YMCA, Schuylkill County Society for Crippled Children, SARCC and Tamaqua Salvation Army.Sixteen projects will be completed during this event. As you can imagine, the 15 partner agencies work diligently year round to provide programs and services to friends, family, and neighbors in Schuylkill County. Participating in the Day of Caring gives individuals the opportunity to give back to their community and lend a helping hand to those in need.Anyone can volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Schuylkill United Way office at (570) 622-6421.
