Members of the Tamaqua Anthracite Model Railroad Club express the importance of getting youth involved. Club Vice President Paul Kern stated that the current youth really get into the hobby.

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS 13-year old John Shuckavage, club's head junior member, says he spends about 4 to 5 hours a week working on the club's HO-scale railroad. Shuckavage, who also made the club's Facebook page, owns and maintains 29 cars and 2 engines. Frank Huegel, club President, stated that the club meets every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. across from the Elks Lodge on Nescopec Street in Tamaqua. He also added that anyone may call him at (570) 386-2517 for more information. Two-year member John Shuckavage, 13, shows another prospective member Matthew Boerner, 12, a section of the club's 3,000 foot track.
