Tamaqua woman taken to hospital following two-vehicle accident

A Tamaqua woman was taken to St. Luke's Hospital following a two-vehicle accident that occurred yesterday around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Broad Street and North Greenwood Street in Tamaqua. The drivers were Gail Card, 59, Coaldale, driving a 2007 Dodge, owned by Lech Transportation, and Holly Meylach, 66, driving a 2002 Ford Focus. Meylach's vehicle was totaled after crashing into a lighted crosswalk signal. The signal and Card's vehicle suffered minor damage. Meylach was transported to St. Luke's Hospital via Lansford Ambulance. Card sought treatment later. Tamaqua Fire Police volunteers detoured traffic around the scene for the duration. Officer Karl Harig stated the incident is still under investigation.
