Scholarships are available for 2013 for nursing and higher education students.

The William C. and Loretta K. Shirar Memorial Scholarship for Nursing and the Robert A. and Jean D. Benner Nursing Scholarship were established for the purpose of awarding scholarships to high school seniors or older individuals who are pursuing a career as a registered nurse.The applicant must be a voting member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton.First consideration will be given to a person who is pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, followed by either a person in Associate Degree program or a Diploma program for registered nursing.Should there be no candidate from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton, who makes application for these scholarships for nursing, any applicant from the Lehighton Area School District will be considered.If two our more candidates pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or if two or more candidates pursuing an Associate Degree or Diploma program for registered nursing apply for the scholarship, the determining factor will be the financial need of the student.The Higher Education Scholarship and Kreiger Memorial Scholarship were established to provide help to persons pursuing a degree or diploma from an accredited school of higher learning. Applicant is to be a voting member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. If none, applicant will be considered from the Lehighton Area School District.The Thomas L. Reisenweaver Music Scholarship will be given to a student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a music field. First consideration will be given to a voting member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton. Second consideration will be that of graduating from Lehighton Area High School. If no applicant meets criteria then applicant to be considered from Carbon County.The Marian A. Ashner Memorial Scholarship in Education will be awarded to up to two scholarships recipients to church voting member or members enrolled as a four year student at East Stroudsburg, Bloomsburg or Kutztown Universities. Scholarship recipients can reapply in subsequent years for consideration for additional scholarship grants.Application forms may be obtained at the church office at 175 S. Third St, Lehighton, beginning April 15, 2013. Office hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p. m. to 4:30 p. m.
