Unaware of next month's bridge work, a duck sits calmly atop her eggs, located directly below the US209 Broad Street bridge in Tamaqua. Kevin Steigerwalt, Tamaqua Borough Manager, stated that Michael Rebert, PennDOT 5-0 District Executive, informed the borough that construction for Broad Street Bridge Project is expected to start sometime in May. He added that the bridge detours are expected to go into effect on May 24, 2013. Steigerwalt and Rob Jones, Tamaqua's Public Works Director, both added that PennDOT is looking into ways to expedite the project, currently expected to take 18-months.
