Incident along I81 is investigated

State police at Fern Ridge reported on an incident along Interstate 80 that began in Clearfield County and ended with a traffic stop in Carbon County.

Troopers said about 7:24 am. on Wednesday, April 10, the Clearfield County communications center, located near Dubois, received a phone call from a female alleging she was being held against her will in a vehicle with a weapon. The call then went dead.An investigation was undertaken by troopers at the Dubois barracks. Troopers were able to ascertain that the caller was traveling in a tractor trailer eastbound on I80.About 11:12 a.m. troopers from the Fern Ridge barracks stopped a tractor trailer near Exit 274 off ramp eastbound. Found in the vehicle was a male and female.The investigation revealed that the female had made a false report to Clearfield County 911 Center and was not being held against her will and no weapon was involved.Both the male and female were relesed from custody and an investigation of false reports is being undertaken by Dubois troopers.Troopers only identified the suspect female as being 22 years old from New Jersey.
