Pocono Raceway Day held in honor of Dr. Mattioli

To usher in the racing season, Pocono Medical Center (PMC) is hosting its first annual Pocono Raceway Day and children's safety fair at PMC.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 in the Dale & Frances Hughes Cancer Center parking lot, there will be booths promoting child safety from PMC departments and from numerous Monroe County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), including local police and fire departments, the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management, in addition to various children's organizations.The event is free and open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date is Sunday, April 14 and will be posted on the PMC website. For updates and more information visit, PoconoMedicalCenter.org.Pocono Raceway Day will honor Dr. Joseph "Doc" Mattioli, Pocono Raceway founder and longtime safety advocate, who passed away last year."The entire Raceway family is honored PMC is recognizing Doc and our family. We know he would have been thrilled, as he was a huge advocate of safety. Our family is looking forward to the event on April 13 and we can't wait to see everyone there," said Brandon Igdalsky, Pocono Raceway president and CEO.In attendance will be Nick Igdalsky, Pocono Raceway's executive vice president and COO, in addition to Tricky the Fox, the official mascot of the raceway.An official Pocono Raceway Pace car, a fire truck from the East Stroudsburg Fire Department, an ambulance from LifeStar Response, the M113 armored personnel carrier tank from the Stroudsburg Police Department and the 1980s Knight Rider KITT replica car will also be there for parents and children to explore.There will be free food, a bouncy house, face painting and broadcasting the event live will be Stroudsburg radio station, WSBG, hosted by DJ Chuck Seese.To inaugurate the annual tradition, a ribbon cutting will commence at noon. The first 100 attendees, above the age of 12, will receive a free June Saturday Grandstand ticket to Pocono Raceway. There will be additional giveaways, such as tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, June 9, a child's bike from Vertical Earth and a children's Sonicare toothbrush.
