Jim Thorpe Chief Burgess James Walker has received a letter from W. L. Rosenfeld, commander of Wynnefield Post No. 148, Jewish War Veterans of the

U.S.A., Philadelphia, who announced plans to present a Certificate of Merit in honor of the late Jim Thorpe after whom this community is named. The Wynnefield Post is anxious to learn if this community has a trophy room for the purpose of housing such awards. Prior to Thorpe's death, the veterans' group had planned and made up a hand-scrolled certificate for presentation to Thorpe, honoring him for his athletic achievements.
