A burglary and attempted burglary are being probed by state police at Lehighton.

Troopers said the residence of Salvatore Baldassano, 42, of 22 Shadblue Lane, Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township, was entered sometime between noon and 5 p.m. on Friday, April 5. The criminals stole and drank beer at the residence.The attempted entry occurred at the home of John O'Neil, 41, of 3105 Pleasant Valley Drive, Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County. Unknown criminals attempted to gain entry through a ground floor window and a basement door but apparently fled once they were detected by O'Neil. The intruders fled in three vehicles, troopers said. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 6, about 8:40 p.m.Anyone with information concerning either incident is asked to call troopers at (610) 377-4270.
