Driver facing DUI count in Tamaqua

A Weatherly man was cited by Tamaqua police following an incident on March 22.

Patrolman Joseph Krebs was on patrol that day at 1:06 a.m. when he received a dispatch from the Schuylkill County Communication Center concerning a possible drunken driver on SR309, heading north to Tamaqua from the Fegley's Service Station in West Penn Township. The vehicle in question was a red Honda sedan.Krebs observed the vehicle as it traveled on Center Street through the Five Points intersection and north on Pine Street. The vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner, crossing double yellow lines numerous times. Krebs initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Todd Matthew Miller, 19, of Third StreetThe officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car as well as green vegetable matter clinging to Miller's clothing. During a search of the vehicle Krebs also found vegetable matter in cigarette pack, a bong, two prescription drug containers and a Vicodin pill.Miller was given, and failed, several field sobriety tests and was then transported to Schuylkill Medical Center -S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood draw. He was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of a controlled substance.
