Five area residents among 27 to enter guilty pleas

Five area residents were among 27 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge James P. Goodman as follows:

Scott Ferryman, 39, of 127 E. Phillips St., Coaldale, pleaded to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, and was placed in Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months, fined $500, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC) South, attend alcohol highway safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, perform 10 hours community service, and driver' s license suspended 12 months.On a charge of failing to lower beam to approaching vehicle was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Ferryman was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Joseph Krebs, following accident in 100 block on West Water Street.Zachary Guy Zerbe,19, of 204 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, possession of drug paraphernalia, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Zerbe was cited by Pottsville Patrolman John H. Mohl.Kasara Brandy Shields, 20. of 104 Springgarden St., Lansford, possession of drug paraphernalia, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA fund. Blaine St., McAdoo, possession an instrument of crime, serve 52 to 364 days in the county prison, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. LaSalle, 26, Minersville, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (CS) into the state correctional institution in Mahanoy Township, placed on probation 18 months, $100 to SAE fund, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. LaSalle was cited by Trooper Andrew Letcavage.Scott Joseph Meade, 52, Pottsville, DUI of alcohol and involved in accident by striking a pedestrian, Russell Murphy, in the 500 block of North Centre Street, Pottsville, and failed to stop; sentenced to serve 10 days in the county prison with work release if eligible, followed by five months and 20 days in the IPP, fined $750, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to SMC-South, attend safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, perform 20 hours community service, driver's license suspended 12 months and when restored install ignition interlock on steering wheel which monitors alcohol content by driver. Reno.Allen Edward Hubler, 53, Pine Grove, DUI of alcohol, sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Tuesday, April 2, followed by four years and 11 months in the IPP, fined $1,500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, perform 20 hours of community service, driver's license suspended 18 months and when restored must install ignition interlock on steering wheel for 12 months. On a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $100 and costs. Hubler was cited by Trooper David Beam when stopped in Tremont.George R. Rogosky, Mansfield, Ohio, DUI of alcohol, placed for five years in the IPP, fined $1,500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $200 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to SMC-South, attend safety school, perform 40 hours community service, driver's license suspended 18 months and when restored install ignition interlock on vehicle for12 months. Rogosky was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Peter Wysochansky.Joseph Anthony Johnson, 20, Shenandoah, possession with intent to deliver a CS, and possession of drug paraphernalia, sentenced to serve three years on probation, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, and $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Johnson was cited by Shenandoah Chief George Carado.Gary Lee Zellner, 56, Slatington, DUI of alcohol, serve seven days to six months in the county prison. On charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana to serve additional 13 months on probation. On charges of harassment and disorderly conduct serve concurrent 12 months probation on each charge. He was also ordered to pay a fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe, attend safety school, receive outpatient treatment, and driver's license suspended 12 months.
