A Schuylkill County driver was cited following a crash.

State police at Frackville said Steve Heffelfinger, 41, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound on SR895 (Summer Valley Road), in East Brunswick Township, about 9:45 p.m. on March 21 when he applied his brakes hard and swerved to the right berm to avoid hitting a deer, that was reportedly running across the road.He lost control of the vehicle which struck a speed limit sign, drove off the road and down a slight embankment. The vehicle came to rest in a grass/brush area west of the road facing southwest.Heffelfinger then attempted to drive the vehicle back onto the road, however, could not make it up the embankment. He then fled the scene, troopers said.Heffelfinger will be issued multiple traffic citations as a result of the crash, and his failure to report the crash and remain at the scene, troopers added.
