State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one vehicle crash about 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, along Hideaway Road, in Polk Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Thomas T. Nielsen, 22, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 1999 Saab 93 eastbound at a high rate of speed causing him to lose control while attempting to negotiate a slight left hand curve.The car the left, returned and then crossed over the westbound lane. It then came back into the eastbound lane and off the south berm where it struck a mailbox.After striking the mailbox the car continued east and up an embankment causing it to roll onto its roof. The car came to rest on the berm facing west, troopers said.Nielsen was not injured. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed, troopers added.
