Holy Week

St. Matthew's UCC invites everyone to attend its many services and events during Holy Week.It begins with Palm Sunday on March 24. At the 9 a.m. worship service, St. Matthew's and Effort UMC will combine their voices and present their Easter cantata. If you miss that service, Effort UMC will host an 11 a.m. service where the combined choirs will perform the Easter cantata again.Maundy Thursday, March 28, St. Matthew's will have a covered dish supper beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by worship at 7:30 p.m. Holy communion will be served. It will be a Tenebrae Service of shadows and desertion, reminding worshippers of the events of Christ's passion.The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. in the church grove. They are looking for donations of colored hard-boiled eggs and/or plastic filled eggs. Egg donations should be at the church by noon that Saturday.Easter Sunday, March 31, there will be an Easter dawn service at 6:30 a.m., breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and a 9 a.m. worship service.Chestnut Ridge SeniorsThe Chestnut Ridge Seniors will meet Thursday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company. Bring a bag lunch. There will be Easter eggs and cupcakes. Participants are welcome to wear an Easter bonnet. They will be playing bingo and there will be a ham drawing.Hoagie pickupIf you ordered hoagies from St. Matthew's UCC, the pickup date is Tuesday, March 26, available after 4 p.m.Exercising seniorsThere is a low-impact exercise class for those over 55 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-10 a.m.
