Anita Gordon, pianist with the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble, to retire after season's finale concert

Anita Gordon, pianist with the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble for 22 years, will be retiring from the ensemble after their last concert of the season on Sunday April 7, 2013.

Asked about what it has meant to her to be part of the Ensemble, Anita says that "being in the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble for twenty-two years brought her many pleasures: playing some of the most wonderful works in the piano chamber music literature and exploring some of the lesser known pieces - working with the same people over many years and seeing the group develop from four individuals into a cohesive ensemble - and seeing our audience grow both in size and in enthusiasm for the music we play." She adds: "It is wonderful to know that the group has become an important asset for the community".At the last concert of the season, Anita Gordon will be featured in Schubert Impromptu for Piano, Op. 90 #4. She also selected one of her favorite works for piano quartet to end her carrier with the ensemble: Brahms Piano Quartet in A Major, Op. 26.The concert will also include selections from a Trio Sonata for Violin, Viola and Piano by Leclair, from the Duo for Violin and Cello by Kodaly and from Suite for Viola and Piano by Vaughan Williams.A fundraising dinner at the Schuylkill Country Club will take place after the concert, honoring Gordon for her many years with the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble.
