Judy F. Moon seeks Carbon re-election as Register of Wills

Judy F. Moon, incumbent Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphans' Court in Carbon County, has announced her candidacy for re-election to that office in 2013.

Judy began her career in that office in 1981 as a clerk, advanced to first deputy and subsequently was elected to the office in 1995 and has held that position since that date.One of her first initiatives was establishing the "Traveling Register of Wills." She has availed herself to the needs of attorneys and their clients at the attorneys' offices during normal working hours, evenings and weekends.Over the last several years, her office has increased the collection of inheritance taxes, resulting in increased commissions for the county, along with numerous increases in estate filings, marriage licenses and various other legal filings. Ms. Moon has received formal acceptance examination reports from the auditor general of Pennsylvania for each year from Jan. 1, 1995, through Dec. 31, 2010.Under her direction, the office has been awarded grant monies for the preservation of historical records which will provide accessibility for future generations to study local history.In addition to taking continuing education classes and computer training, Judy is a certified paralegal. She has served as president of the registers' state association and ultimately chaired its statewide conference, and currently serves on the Legislative Committee of the state association and as a member of the Pa. State Association of Elected County Officials.She was a 20-year resident of Weatherly and for the past 25 years has resided in Nesquehoning.She belongs to the Carbon County Democratic Executive Committee, where she serves as vice chairperson, along with various memberships in Democratic clubs throughout Carbon County.Judy is a member of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club,

V.F.W. Post Ladies Auxiliary and Zion Lutheran Church, and is a past member of the Thrivent Financial Services Board, along with volunteer work for the American Cancer Society.Judy is the mother of two children, David, and his wife, Kathy, and Nicole, wife of William Sacco, and has five grandchildren, Rachel, Meghan and Zack Moon and Gabriella and Anthony Sacco.
