The Northern Lehigh Historical Society had a productive 2012. Landscaping and maintenance continued along the Slate Heritage Trail and around the Trout Run Covered Bridge.Its website was re-created by a group of students at Lehigh Carbon Community College. The new address is

www.nlhistoricalsociety.org. The effort was initiated and led by NLHS member Vanessa Meleski.The NLHS continued its participation in the Venture Group's Slatington Trailhead project. The Gathering, 2012, was successful. Planning for this year has started.An Internet search discovered a website containing over 200 historic photos and postcard views of the Northern Lehigh area. The site was created by Charles T. Evans, a graduate of Slatington High School who is now a professor of history at Northern Virginia Community College. The address is

The NLHS is a member of the Venture Group, the umbrella organization responsible for the construction and maintenance of the structures.• Oct. 5: "The Gathering," the 10th annual festival along the Slate Heritage Trail, which starts at noon and closes with a fireworks finale.
