March 19, 1982 Teresa Wargo breaks a tie game with a pair of free throws and adds another foul shot later to secure Palmerton's 43-40 victory over Scranton Prep in the opening round of the PIAA Class AA state playoffs. With the game knotted at 40-40, Wargo is sent to the line with 1:23 left in regulation and coverts both shots. She adds another one with 43 seconds to play and the Bombers hold on for the win. Wargo finishes the contest with nine points, as do teammates Kristen Cortazzo and Wendy George. Palmerton, coached by Bill Piper, also receives eight points from Kim Dakan.
