The Jim Thorpe Democratic Association will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room of the Inn at Jim Thorpe.

President Edith Lukasevich will be in charge of the session.Church gatheringsOn Wednesday, March 13, at St John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, hamburger BBQ will be served for the Lenten gathering. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a program. This week, the program will be "The Bringing of the Cross," at which time, members of the congregation are asked to bring their crosses from home wall displays, jewelry, stand up crosses, etc.St. Mark's/St. John's Episcopal Church, Race Street, will hold its soup and session at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. The topic follows the events of Holy Week through and including the crucifixion and descent. All are welcome.Class of 1964The next gathering for the members of Jim Thorpe High School class of 1964 will take place on Thursday, March 21, at 10 a.m. at the Penn Kidder Senior Center, located along Route 903 and Behren's Road. If you wish more information you may call (570) 325-2241.Maundy Thursday dinnerSt. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will hold a Moravian Love Feast on Thursday, Maundy Thursday, March 28 in the fellowship hall of the church. Reservations are a must, so that they can prepare the proper amount of food. The meal will be roast pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, applesauce, rolls and butter. For dessert, Moravian sugar cakes will be served. Members of the church and their friends are invited and should call Irene and David Remmel, to make reservations. They will be accepted until Palm Sunday, March 24. The Maundy Thursday service will follow the meal in the church, with the celebration of Holy Communion.
