Prothonotary's report

A total of 262 cases were started in February in the office of Carbon County Prothonotary Joann M. Behrens, according to a monthly statistical report released by the officeholder. A breakdown of the cases is as follows:Civil actions, 17; custody complaints, 17; district justice appeals, 7; divorce complaints ,16; ejectment complaints, 2; license appeals, 3; mortgage foreclosure complaints, 22; name change, 1; judgments, 142; miscellaneous cases, 5;paternity suits, 2; protection from abuse petitions, 22; quiet title action, 1; replevin complaint, 1; auditor/financial reports, 1; and stipulations/waivers of liens, 3. The office staff also received and processed 118 applications for U.S. Passports.Behrens' financial report shows that $26,106.02 was generated last month as follows: prothonotary's fees, $21,162.95; interest income $2.59; PFA Surcharge, courts, $89.30; PFA Surcharge, Sheriff, $187.20; custody fees, $750; and data processing fees, $3,913.98.The prothonotary also remitted $2,796.67 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, representing state fees collected locally, and $36 to the Administrative Offices of the Pennsylvania Courts, this being surcharges on new custody cases in accordance with Act 119 of 1996.
