Wednesday sessions

St. Mark's/St. John's Episcopal Church will hold its second "Soup and Session" meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Great Hall. The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and all are welcome. The topic follows the events of Holy Week through and including the crucifixion and descent.Women's Bible StudyThe Women's Bible study classes at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, have been changed to Thursday evenings, due to the Lenten gatherings. The classes will now be held on March 7 and 21. They are studying the book of Acts. Joan DeAcetis is the leader.Soup and ScriptureThe program for Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the soup and scripture at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will feature actor Gene Connelly. He will be portraying Judas Iscariot and offer an open conversation with him. Sandwiches will be served prior to the program.Smoke detectorsThe Jim Thorpe Fire Department is still offering free smoke detectors to the residents of the community.
