Hazardous weather tonight into Tuesday

Punxsutawney Phil may have forecast an early spring, but Jack Frost isn't ready loosen his icy grip on the Northeast yet.

This weekend again reminded people that winter is still here as temperatures hovered in the mid 20s Sunday with wind gusts of up to 40 mph.This week doesn't looks much better as the National Weather Service is forecasting two chances for a wintry mix.The NWS has issued a hazardous weather outlook for tonight into tomorrow.It states that "there is a good chance for a wintry mix of precipitation on Tuesday. A couple of inches of snow are possible in the Poconos. The greatest wintry threat elsewhere is freezing rain during the morning if precipitation can arrive before temperatures respond."According to forecasts, there is an 80 percent chance of rain, snow and freezing rain before a changeover to just rain after 1 p.m. Tuesday.Highs are expected to hit near 43 with southeast winds of 6 to 14 mph.Cooler temperatures move through Wednesday and Thursday as highs are expected to hover at freezing during the day and dropping to the mid-teens to low 20s overnight.The second chance of winter weather will be Friday, as the NWS states there is a 50 percent chance of rain, snow and sleet throughout the day and overnight.Saturday brings slightly higher temperatures near 40 with a 30 percent chance of precipitation.
